Jerry Lewis has been dropped as host of the MDA telethon, and not in a particularly glorious fashion either. This video is a tribute to the 85-year-old comedian, showing him as he looked over his long career.
Jerry Lewis has hosted the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon every year since 1966, but no longer. The organization has also dropped him as its national chairman, although a replacement isn’t being sought.
The reasons for Lewis’ departure aren’t very clear. It seems to have come done to nothing more than his age and ability to do the job. Lewis is also thought to not be in the best of health at the moment.
I’ve never been a fan of Jerry Lewis, but he has raised over 2 and a half billion dollars for the MDA over the years. That has to be applauded in a big way.
