Jodie Foster has married her girlfriend Alexandra Hedison. Which is one hell of a way of coming out as gay, something Foster seemed incapable or unwilling to do for decades.
It’s been an open secret in Hollywood for many years that Jodie Foster is gay. However, she has always refused to talk about her sexuality, only vaguely hinting at it during the Golden Globes in 2013.
Now, she has reportedly married a woman, which is a pretty bold statement in the U.S., which is still struggling to come to terms with the idea of gay marriage.
Should people have to come out in public? No, of course not. However, the more celebrities who do openly admit their sexuality, the more being gay is accepted in mainstream society. Which is a positive thing.
