If you’re a Hollywood A-lister and a little girl from a school in London writes to you then what do you do? If you’re Johnny Depp then you turn up at school a few days later dressed from head to toe as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Beatrice Delap, a 9-year-old student attending the Meridian Primary School in Greenwich, wrote to Depp after learning he was filming Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides at the nearby Naval College.
She asked if he’d help her and her classmates stage a mutiny against the teachers. And rather than have a lackey throw the letter away or send a standard reply, he actually turned up at the school in full costume with four other cast members.
I cannot imagine any other actor of Depp’s caliber doing this. He’s clearly a genuinely nice guy who actually cares about his fans, especially the young ones who idolize him in the Pirates movies.
Johnny Depp: not only a superb actor but a top bloke as well.
