Jorge Luis Borges has been celebrated with a Google Doodle. The search giant commemorated what would have been his 112th birthday with a drawing of him overlooking a futuristic cityscape.
Jorge Luis Borges was a writer with a very particular style, one which still influences people today. His most famous works, Ficciones and The Aleph are all collections of interconnected short stories.
Borges writings were mostly about magic realism, with dreams and notions of time and space prevalent. Despite his obvious talent he never won the Nobel Prize for Literature and died in 1986.
Visually this is a very simple video, with just a few still photographs to punctuate proceedings. But the audio contains a reading of The Witness, a short parable from Borges’ book Labyrinths. And it contains a lot of wisdom.
