There’s nothing more controversial and up for debate at the moment than the health care reform bill that Obama and his supporters are trying to bring in. Half of the country loves it and half hates it.
Last night, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the health insurance reform bill by a vote of 220 to 215. Of those figures, 39 Democrats joined the Republicans in voting against it, while just one solitary Republican voted with the Democrats in favor.
The Republican congressman who voted for the bill is Joseph Cao, the Louisiana Representative in the House. This video shows Cao heading home to read the bill through in full, something I’m guessing not every congressman bothered doing.
I suspect Cao will get a lot of criticism from Republicans and people opposed to the health care reforms, but he should be applauded and respected for sticking to his principles rather than kowtowing to the party line.
