This video shows the prank phonecall made to Kate Middleton while she was in hospital suffering from severe morning sickness. The “joke” led to one of the victims taking her own life.
The lady who sadly took her own life in the aftermath of this prank is the one who first answers the phone. She’s only involved for a few seconds, says very little, and then passes the call through to Kate’s private room.
Clearly there is more going on here. Sure, the prank itself affected her, and the media attention afterwards will have been overwhelming. But I can only assume Jacintha Saldanha was already somewhat unhappy or stressed.
I’m sure the Australian radio hosts feel terrible about the whole thing, as well they should. Hopefully this will put others off making stupid prank phone calls in the future. After all, it makes for cheap, lazy radio.
