Miles Beckett and Greg Goodfried, two of the brains behind lonelygirl15, have started a new web drama titled “KateModern”. The show focuses on Kate: a 20-year-old art student with a dramatic life.

Here we go again!

Much like lonleygirl15, the show is filmed in a vblog-like style, but also features occasional appearances by UK TV stars. The mix of amateurish directing with a professionally backed budget could potentially fool a whole new generation of viewers.

But that’s not the plan this time around. The show is openly exposed as fictional, however, viewers are encouraged to interact with the characters via social networking site Bebo.com. The creators claim that this interaction influences the story line directly.

Let’s just hope the new marketing gimmick doesn’t raise a generation of teens obsessed with a fictional alternate reality.

The episodes are always first premiered on Bebo.com, and are then uploaded to YouTube for more exposure. Judging by the plot, this web series is targeted for a UK audience.

“Set in East London, KateModern tells the story of a troubled young art student named Kate and her three closest friends: an Australian wild-child named Charlie, a young entrepreneur named Tariq and a mischievous computer whiz-kid named Gavin.”

Sounds like lonelygirl15 part two if you ask me.
