Singer Katy Perry is ready to end her feud with Taylor Swift, which has been ongoing for the last five years.
After the release of her album “Witness,” Perry reportedly did some soul searching and is ready to throw in the towel.
Perry’s change of heart comes after her “Carpool Karaoke” bit with James Corden, where she took a few jabs at Swift. Her single “Swish Swish,” which features Nicki Minaj also disses Swift.
During her Carpool Karaoke appearance, Perry said, “Honestly, it’s really like she started it, and it’s time for her to finish it. It’s about backing dancers. There were three backing dancers. I tried to talk to her about it and she wouldn’t speak to me.”
In a surprise move, the singer changed the lyrics to her song “Swish Swish” during a concert in Los Angeles. Instead of singing her “don’t come for me” line, Perry sang “God bless you on your journey, oh baby girl.”
“I forgive her, and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her,” Perry told Arianna Huffington. “I think it’s actually, like, I think it’s time. There are bigger fish to fry, and there are bigger problems in the world.”
Perry has called her “Swish Swish” single an anti-bullying anthem.
“I think she’s a fantastic songwriter,” said Perry, who said the two could be “representatives of strong women.”
Perry said that while the two may not always see eye to eye, she hopes they can “come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion.”
The feud between Swift and Perry stems from an incident in 2014. Swift’s dancers left the singer’s tour to join Perry’s tour, as per their contract agreements. Swift’s “Bad Blood” song was allegedly written about the incident that fueled the fire between the two artists.
