I had to post this video, it’s just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen… and I don’t normally do cute. I’m more of a horror, porn and swearing kind of guy.
This is Keepon the robot, surely the cutest robot ever to have been created. It’s quite obviously Japanese (where else?) and was developed by Hideki Kozima and Marek Michalowski.
In this particular video, Keepon dances to a track by Spoon called Don’t You Evah. And doesn’t he do it well!
Keepon is so aptly named it’s untrue, as he literally keeps on dancing and jigging to the music until it stops… a bit like Michael Jackson before he went all weird.
My favourite bit of the video is actually when the music does get stopped however, and Keepon looks shocked and then stares the programmer out until he concedes to starting the tune again.
It’s such a simple little robot but it impresses me more than most others to come out of Japan. In fact, the only robot I like more is Bender from Futurama, and he is only a cartoon!
