Have you noticed the number of athletes at the London 2012 Olympics wearing that strange colored tape all over their bodies? It’s called Kinesio tape, and this video shows CBS learning the truth about it.
It turns out Kinesio tape is far from a new invention. It has been used in Japan for 25 years, and in other countries for around five years. It just happens that athletes and their trainers have now caught up with the idea.
I must admit to still being skeptical, even after hearing from a physician who uses the tape on patients and one of the patients themselves.
Perhaps it does work, and it’s certainly better than cocooning an injury in rolls of bandages. But I can only see this being a short-lived craze that will be lucky to last until Rio 2016.
