Larry Hagman, who spent decades as a television and film actor, died on Friday (Nov. 23) from complications arising from throat cancer.
Hagman started on TV in various small roles before landing a lead in I Dream Of Jeannie in 1965. He played Anthony Nelson alongside Barbara Eden.
In 1977 Hagman landed a role in Dallas. He played oil baron J.R. Ewing, a character who became infamous after the Who Shot J.R.? storyline caused a media frenzy, starting that trend in fictional television series.
Hagman was diagnosed with liver cancer in 1995, and had a life-saving transplant. In 2011 Hagman was diagnosed with throat cancer and succumbed to complications arising from the illness.
