Danny Gans, a Las Vegas institution since 1996, passed way this morning after reportedly having trouble breathing. He leaves behind a wife and children, as well as millions of people who saw and enjoyed his shows through the years.
Gans was what he described as a musical impressionist, taking the stage and mimicking a host of singers and celebrities in his own unique style. He was hugely popular, which is why Steve Wynn signed him up on a $150 million contract in the year 2000.
Gans was named ‘Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year’ 11 times in a row, which is a record unlikely to ever be broken. He first played at the Rio, before moving on to The Mirage, before finally The Encore.
This video shows Gans answering questions about his life being fired at him by entertainment reporter Alicia Jacobs. The man’s humor completely comes across in this short video. Rest In Peace Danny Gans – 1956-2009.
