After finding the last Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld commercial extremely dull, I had nothing but low expectations for this latest one. In it, Bill and Jerry are housemates with a new dysfunctional family.
The result is a breakthrough 4:30 video that gets progressively lamer and duller with each passing second.
Take the “joke” at the 1:14 mark for instance. When Bill is asked by a little kid if there are monsters in the story, he replies, “Yes, but it’s ok, there’s a firewall.” Even hardcore IT technicians wouldn’t dare say something that corny.
Don’t get me wrong, I use both a Mac and a PC at home and find each to be extremely useful. At the same time, there’s a part of me that simply finds those Vista-bashing Apple commercials hilarious.
Rumor has it that Bill Gates paid Jerry a cool $10 million for this ad. I may have chuckled a few times during this one, but it doesn’t justify that kind of price tag.
Sorry Billy, but money doesn’t make you funny.
