This video shows the world’s largest captive jellyfish, a Lion’s Mane jellyfish caught by a fisherman off the English coast near Yorkshire.
This Lion’s Mane jellyfish is now on display at The Deep aquarium in Hull. And it should drive many visitors to that establishment.
The Lion’s Mane jellyfish can be absolutely huge, with a bell diameter up to 2.5 meters in diameter, and tentacles as long as 30 meters in length. Unfortunately, this one is small by comparison, with a bell diameter of 14 inches.
Hopefully this specimen will mature in captivity and grow into a monster as a result. The Deep could end up having to build a huge tank to house it if that does happen though.
