Dick Van Dyke, the 87-year-old actor best known for Diagnosis Murder and Mary Poppins, has escaped alive after his car burst into flames while he was driving along a highway in Los Angeles.

Dick Van Dyke seems to be the master of cheating death. Not only does he look fit and healthy as an octogenarian, he has survived a couple of bizarre accidents in recent years.
As well as his car blowing up, he survived falling asleep on his surfboard when (according to his story) a group of porpoises pushed him back to shore, and safety. Amazing.
