Luis Suarez has a reputation as a nasty piece of work who has previously bitten two opponents for no apparent reason. And now he has done it again, and at the 2014 World Cup, no less.
Uruguayan striker Suarez bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder in a ridiculous off-the-ball tussle.
The referee didn’t see the incident, and, despite Chiellini having bite marks on his shoulder, did nothing after the matter was brought to his attention.
Suarez and Uruguay have denied there was a biting incident, blaming the British media. Video evidence clearly shows the bite taking place, and Suarez didn’t help his case by going down clutching his teeth afterwards.
FIFA is investigating, and if there is any justice Suarez will be on the first plane out of Brazil.
