Those of you who have been living in a commune in the middle of nowhere for the past month, where no television, radio, or newspapers are allowed, may have missed the news that Michael Jackson died on June 25.
Today saw family, friends, and collaborators pay their respects to the King of Pop in a Memorial service designed to allow members of the public give the singer a proper send-off before those close to him privately buried him.
There were performances from people who worked with Jacko, including this one by Mariah Carey and Trey Lorenz, who covered the Jackson 5 hit, I’ll Be There. Carey had a hit with the song in 1992 as part of her MTV Unplugged album.
Carey’s voice isn’t as great as it once was but the performance of this song is heartfelt and true, and will be the highlight of the Michael Jackson Memorial for many. Now that Jacko has been laid to rest, maybe it’s time for us all to move on.
