We’ve all seen folks signing songs, supposedly with the noble aim of allowing deaf people to enjoy music. Now I’m not deaf, but they always fell a little flat with me.
Firstly, these altruistic souls tend to just stand there and sign. Where are the production values? If you’re going to help deaf people appreciate music, you’ve surely got to jazz it up a little.
Secondly, the songs are always so nice! It’s all well and good for the elderly, but what about those angsty deaf teens?
This video is like a breath of fresh air, a real performance of Marilyn Manson’s This is the New Shit. It won’t be to everyone’s taste, but if you don’t like it there are always those tame signed songs we talked about earlier.
