Back in July, in Japan and Taiwan, McDonald’s released a toy based on Sasuke from the immensely popular anime series Naruto. And it’s become something of a phenomenon, but not for the reason it was intended to.
The Sasuke toy was designed to do a back-flip when the body is pushed down. And it does, kind of. The problem is it rarely makes it all the way over, ending up lying on its side and making Sasuke look far from heroic.
However, that fail has been turned into a win after people started noticing how good the Sasuke toy was for balancing things on. The design of the head and the stance of the figure combining to great effect.
The legend of Sasuke and his neat balancing trick has become so big that even news channels are reporting on it, as this video shows. And it’s all free publicity for McDonald’s, the lucky swines.
