Michael Jackson Martin Bashir Interview Video | Lenny Henry and Rowan Atkinson Spoof

Michael Jackson’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief and platitudes I’ve only ever experienced once before – when Princess Diana died. But like Princess Di, we shouldn’t forget that Michael Jackson was a figure of fun while alive.

There’ll be very few people in the world who haven’t at one time or another, mocked Michael Jackson or thought ill of him. This seems to have been forgotten due to his sudden and unexpected death but is a fact.

This video, for instance, shows a spoof version of the interview Michael Jackson gave to Martin Bashir. Lenny Henry plays Michael Jackson, while Rowan Atkinson portrays Martin Bashir, all for a Comic Relief sketch.

Some people will refuse to laugh at this sketch now but at the time it was funny and bang up-to-date. As great an entertainer as Michael Jackson was, he was also a very weird individual ripe for relentless mocking.
