Most arguments against gay marriage are usually accompanied by much hand-wringing about the plight of the children raised by gay parents. Zach Wahls, an engineering student from Iowa, is one of those people raised by gay parents, and he wants to assure us that he’s just fine.
Zach spoke at the Iowa House of Representatives, urging the state to maintain its current civil union laws. He spoke from the heart about his own experiences as the product of lesbian parents, and in doing so provided one of the most compelling cases for gay marriage I’ve ever seen.
So, if lesbians can raise a son so well-spoken, level headed, and all round wonderful, what argument will the religious right use next?
