At my age it’s very rare for me to fall in love with a new band. Once you hit 30 you tend to stick with what you know. However, Mumford and Sons have proved that cod philosophy wrong. Very wrong.
Mumford and Sons are a British folk rock group who have drawn inspiration from many different genres and brought it altogether in one glorious whole. Their debut album is spectacularly good and demanding of multiple listens.
This video shows the band performing The Cave at the KROQ Grammy party held at the weekend. And it’s a performance that has renewed my faith in bands being able to perform live.
You can keep Rihanna dancing around half-naked while lip-syncing, and you can keep Christina Aguilera dancing around actually naked while murdering any song you care to mention. I’ll be content watching a real band sing live with passion.
