The International Space Station is currently in orbit around Earth, with three astronauts living there at any one time, along with any visiting shuttles.
But with that many people in such a small place a once, there’s obviously going to be problems with storing enough water to keep everyone hydrated and happy.
Which is why NASA invented a water purifier capable of turning urine, sweat, and bath water in to perfectly drinkable water. Unfortunately, the tests didn’t always go fully to plan.
This video shows a (spoof) test where one lucky (gullible) volunteer has to conduct the first tests of the system. I think his reaction makes it pretty clear that the test was a failure.
I’m not sure I could ever get used to the idea of drinking someone else’s urine, sweat, or bath water, however much it has been purified. My own? Sure. But someone else’s? Ugh, no thanks.
