This nerdy looking asian kid entered an American Idol-like contest in Taiwan only to blow the judges away. After this was aired, Sony Music gave Lin Yu Chun a record deal, Ellen had him on her show, and he was on George Lopez Tonight.
As a fan of underdogs, this video just makes me want to give a standing ovation by it’s end.
In interviews after his record deal, Lin Yu Chun admits that people made fun of him when he tried to sing- a number of people actually told him to become a comedian. “You don’t have to be a good-looking man or woman to succeed. Just be yourself and try your best.”
Well, I’m not going to argue with that.
