Usually I’m completely against re-makes of any kind; there’s just too many times that Hollywood has inappropriately milked a franchise. This time, however, they might just get it right with this cast.
Either way, I’m glad Jackie Chan is back to making fun movies.
Jaden Smith, who was in The Pursuit of Happiness, plays the new kid at school who has trouble with bullies while Chan plays Mr. Han- obviously the new Mr. Miyagi. The funniest part of the trailer has to be when Jackie Chan smashes a fly with the swatter.
Of course, only those who’ve seen the original will probably get the inside joke. The new Karate Kid remake hits theaters June 11th, 2010.
