I’d hate to be working for Lil Wayne right now. Both his We Are Young Money album and rock Rebirth album leaked within the past 24 hours online- way ahead of their February release date.
Here’s the stand out track from Rebirth featuring Eminem called “Drop The World.”
By now there have probably been thousands of illegal downloads of both albums. Part of the leak is due to the fact that 500 copies of Rebirth were “accidentally” shipped by Amazon. But, if you know how albums get leaked, then you know that this wasn’t the only reason for the leak.
Both albums were originally planned to be released on Dec 22. and over 1 million copies were sent to distributors earlier this month. So obviously, Wayne’s decision to delay the release on the 11th occurred too late. Haven’t artists learned by now that it’s the people that work for distributors that leak the albums?
If Lil Wayne’s camp is smart they’ll move up the release date back to the 22nd and advertise like crazy in the next week. If not, Cash Money Records is going to lose a lot of money.
