“Pushing Daisies” and “Star Trek” series creator, Bryan Fuller has just launched the pilot episode for his new “Hannibal” series on NBC. While it looks artistically made, it may just be an incredibly dramatic work of tiresome gore considering all his victems are women and true Hannibal Lecter fans prefer him as a disgustingly sadistic do-gooder instead.
You would think with stars It stars Hugh Dancy playing as damaged-goods special agent Will Graham and Mads Mikkelsen in the title role of Hannibal Lecter, this would be the perfect cast for some credible and successful tv drama. As it stands, both of them give excellent performances with Hugh Dancy doing a swell job portraying Will’s stubborn genius yet emotional fragility, while Danish actor Mikkelsen—best known for his role as the Bond villain in Casino Royale, makes all the appropriate sounds and gestures the Hannibal Lecter we know has or would.
Still many fans prefer skillfully morbid Anthony Hopkins as their cannibal it seems. But not to worry, new fans have been sprouting up all over the place given the reviews it’s been getting. I just might take some time to watch this being a Hannibal fan myself. Care to have a taste anyone?
