Meet Nick Pitera. He’s participating in BroadwayWorld.com’s Give Us Your Voice contest. What’s he singing? A ditty once sung by an angst-ridden, teenaged mermaid from Disney’s Little Mermaid. Yes, ladies and gentleman, Mr. Pitera is singing “Part of Your World.”
Mind you, when I say he’s singing, I don’t mean he’s singing bass. Heck, he isn’t even a tenor. He’s gone for a soprano; he sounds almost exactly like Ariel did. In fact, if I hadn’t heard his introduction or seen the video as he sang, I wouldn’t have realized it was a man singing.
The guy has talent, and I can see him go far with it. Still, I did not expect that voice to come out of that mouth. And I wonder how his lady friends respond to this particular skill.
