Nicki Minaj has teamed up with Chris Brown, best-known for allegedly beating up Rihanna, to duet on a love song. It’s exactly what you’d expect it to be. Average.
To be fair the song isn’t all that bad, certainly compared to some of the other sub-Lady Gaga nonsense Minaj has inflicted on the world. But the music video for Right By My Side is just lazy.
It’s full of tired set-pieces we have seen done thousands of times before, as well as that aspirational BS that everyone is doing these days which suggest we all want big houses, fast cars, and designer clothes. We don’t.
At 35-years-old I suspect I’m not the target audience for this song. Or Nicki Minaj in general. Which, judging by Right By My Side, is fine by me.
