Barnes and Noble has unveiled the Nook Tablet, its alternative to the Apple iPad and the Amazon Kindle Fire. Not that I’d choose it over either of the two aforementioned products.
This video is definitely worth watching, even though Kate is really, really annoying. Barnes and Noble seem to have missed the memo from Apple and others that the way to present new devices to the world has changed.
The Nook Tablet is essentially an eBook reader with added music, video, gaming, apps, and Web capabilities. It’s a direct rival to the Kindle Fire but without Amazon’s built-in marketplaces. But it’s not in the same category as the iPad.
I cannot afford an Apple iPad, but I do want a tablet. At $249 the Nook Tablet offers good value for money, although not quite as good value for money as the Kindle Fire at $199.
