Sonic The Hedgehog is back, in a brand new game called Sonic Mania. While this is a new game, Sega has cleverly included a ton of nostalgia to appeal to Sonic’s core fans.
Sonic Mania is essentially the old Sonic games brought up to date for the modern era. So it’s 2D side-scrolling, but with faster, more colorful visuals.
It’s widely believed that Sonic the Hedgehog lost his way when Sega forced him into a 3D environment. I actually enjoyed those games, but it’s nice to see him back in his natural habitat.
Sonic Mania is garnering some positive reviews thanks to straddling the line between the old and the new, between nostalgia and fun.
