Obama’s speech to Congress was a very important one. The new President of the United States has been elected at probably the worst time possible, with two unpopular wars raging and the economy in a downward spiral.
It’s a tough job but Obama is facing it square on. But that doesn’t mean everyone agreew with his policies, particularly on the economy. This video shows what Cato Institute scholars think of his plans to turn it around.
Obama’s policies amount to spending more in an effort to work the country of the recession. It’s a brave move, but one that has its critics, most of the Cato scholars included. Their analysis is very critical.
The thing is, Obama’s decisions now affect more than just America. Like it or not, what the U.S. does affects the whole world, and so if the President gets it wrong, we’re all going to face years more of this economic malaise. I have my fingers and toes crossed right now.
