President Barack Obama is currently in India on a three-day tour as part of a larger 10-day tour of Asia. But is the beleaguered president actually going to achieve anything?
Obama’s visit to India and beyond has caused controversy in the United States because of the huge costs involved in keeping the president safe from harm in these countries where not everyone is a fan of America or its foreign policy.
But Obama is forging ahead with the tour and has already visited Mumbai, the financial capital of India. On Sunday he will travel to New Delhi and meet the Indian Prime Minister.
The ultimate aim of this visit is to engender better economic relations between the two countries, with Obama hoping that exports to India will help the U.S. economy recover. And with support for Obama dwindling he needs a result.
