More than 50 years after its release, Jack Kerouac’s beatnik buddy tale On the Road is heading to the big screen.
As a massive fan of the original I was a little nervous about the novel getting the Hollywood treatment. But the creators may have gotten things right here.
Director Walter Salles showed he knows a thing or two about road movies with The Motorcycle Diaries. He’s also cast lesser known actors, Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley, as our heroes Dean Moriarty and Sal Paradise. A stellar cast of big names including Viggo Mortensen, Terrence Howard, and Amy Adams take on the supporting roles.
On the Road doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it’s expected to premiere at the Cannes film festival in May.
