This is a great video showing Rob Paravonian’s musical rant against Pachelbel’s ‘Canon in D’ at Penn State university
This is basically a comedy rant, where Rob explains why he hates this one piece of music so rampantly.
He used to play the cello at school, and apparently Canon in D has the worst cello part ever. I’ll have to take his word for that, I was never that geeky.
He plays the guitar all the way through the rant, actually using the same piece of music throughout. The difference being, he places different lyrics and popular music pieces on top of the main melody of the classical piece of music.
Pachelbel’s Canon in D even manages to come through in Rob’s head when he’s listening to other types of music.
Metal, Punk, Pop, Green Day, Avril Lavigne, and Bob Marley all get a mention. The way he crafts lyrics from these artists and genres in to the melody is awesome.
It’s a great comedy rant ending with the immortal line “I’ll see your arse in hell, Pachelbel“. Oh how our school days affect us… you just know this guy is going to be humming the tune until his dying day.
