Mary Travers, best known as one-third of folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary, has died from cancer at the age of 72. She’s the latest in a series of celebrity deaths of late, and hers will be felt hard by fans of good music.
Peter, Paul and Mary took folk music to the masses along with contemporaries including Bob Dylan in the early-1960s. Here is the trio performing Blowin’ In The Wind, which was obviously written by Dylan.
It shows the group at the height of their powers, and Mary Travers at the height of her beauty. Peter, Paul and Mary will also be remembered for This Land Is Your Land and Puff (The Magic Dragon).
The folk trio split in 1970 but Mary Travers released five solo albums before a reunion took place in 1978. Although she has now passed away after a lengthy battle with leukemia, Mary Travers’ music will live on forever.
