PJ Harvey Wins Mercury Music Prize Video | Beats Adele, Elbow, Tinie Tempah To Victory

PJ Harvey has won the 2011 Mercury Music Prize, making her the first artist to win the annual award twice. The last time she won was in 2001, when the world was in turmoil following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

This video not only shows Harvey being announced as the winner and giving her acceptance speech but also some of the other nominees performing live, including Adele, Elbow, and Tinie Tempah.

I’m not a fan of Harvey’s, and in that sense would have rather seen someone else win. But the album, Let England Shake, is, by all accounts, spectacularly good.

In a way it’s kinda good Harvey won, because she is an artist who has never really crossed over to the mainstream. This second Mercury Music Prize should see more people seeking her music out.
