Planets, Suns And Stars To Scale | Earth Is A Spec Of Dust In The Wind

30 sec read

I don’t know why I always seem to have a fascination for things in space; perhaps because it is always so mind boggling and the concept of being this tiny little spec in the galaxy of galaxies is quite a daunting thought indeed.

I mean, I always knew Earth was a relatively small planet in our galaxy, especially compared to our two giants, Jupiter and the Sun. But who knew our Sun was a spec in the big picture of the neighboring stars and suns that we’ve been able to identify.

Even the star Sirius, which is gigantic, is relatively small to other identified stars and suns from “neighboring” galaxy. I thought my mind was boggled before, but after seeing this comparison of planets, suns and stars to scale, I can’t even get my mind wrapped around the enormity of it all.
