This video shows Punxsutawney Phil, nothing more than an overstuffed rodent, predicting six more weeks of winter during the 2012 version of the annual Groundhog Day. Forever immortalized in the film of the same name.
It’s a shame it’s such a colossal waste of time really.
I guess it’s no worse than some of the old traditions I see in the U.K. Like, I don’t know, having a pointless monarchy, changing the guard at Buckingham Palace, and opening parliament every year. But still.
The sad thing about the whole Groundhog Day phenomenon is people actually seem to believe Punxsutawney Phil has anything to do with it. He doesn’t, he’s merely there for show.
What actually happens is a group of old men sit around looking at the weather forecast. How dull. And even then they often get it wrong.
