This sickening video shows a cop beating an unarmed suspect with his baton before pepper spraying him in the face. On New Year’s Eve. What a nice start to 2011 for all involved.
This looks like a completely unwarranted attack on the driver of a car. The guy may have said something, or may be very drunk, but neither of these warrant dragging him out of the car and beating him up, does it?
The problem here is the lack of context. We don’t know what the guy is suspected of having done, and we have no audio of what is being said on either side. But it’s pretty shocking, regardless.
What I don’t understand is the reaction (or lack of it) from the people traveling with the guy who gets beaten up. They don’t seem to respond to what is happening at all, which strikes me as very strange.
