Ed Sheeran Covers ‘Masters of War’ for Agit8. The singer performs Dylan’s protest song for campaign against world poverty.
Ed Sheeran added his voice to the One Campaign’s fight against global poverty by covering Bob Dylan’s searing 1963 song “Masters of War” for the group’s new initiative, agit8.
In the lead-up to the G8 summit in Northern Ireland next week, the One Campaign assembled a roster of artists, including Tom Morello, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Sting and Green Day, to record classic protest songs as a call to action against extreme poverty around the world. The collection of recordings made for the cause also includes Mumford & Sons collaboration with Elvis Costello on Bruce Springsteen’s “The Ghost of Tom Joad.”
“Music is a powerful tool in galvanizing people around an issue,” Sheeran said in a statement on the campaign’s website. “There’s no better way to get your point across than to put it in a beautiful song.”
