Since April 2006, the POYKPAC New York comedy troupe (or “evil syndicate” as they like to call themselves) have been uploading funny sketches on the web “in a concerted effort to subjugate the human race.”
The major media, however, looks past the group’s evil agenda; their shorts have been praised by everyone from New York Magazine to The Washington Post.
More recently, they placed 2nd in YouTube’s Sketches II contest in which competitors competed for $40,000 worth of prize money. The team hasn’t seen their placement on a loss insisting that “silver is the new gold” on their official website.
Meet The ‘Axis Of Evil’
The troupe, which also performs at a regular basis in Brooklyn, consists of Ryan Hall, Ryan Hunter, Taige Jensen, Jenn Lyon and Maggie Ross. All members collaborate to write, direct, produce, edit and perform each sketch. This formula has been used for all 56 (and counting) shorts.
Short: ‘Mario: Game Over’
This is perhaps POYKPAC’s most famous viral video. It has earned them over 7.5 million views on YouTube and was also nominated for Best Comedy Video of 2007. It parodies the popular video game Mario, but expect it to have an “evil “ending.
