President Elect Barack Obama’s First Press Conference Video | Economy & Mutts Like Me

November 7th, 2008 saw Barack Obama hold his first press conference as President Elect. This video shows the C-Span coverage of the event.

The economy takes precedence seeing as that is what most Americans are currently concerned about but there was time to talk about the dog that Obama’s kids are getting, which he states could be a mutt like him.

The mutt comment raised laughs but some people seem confused by it. I assume he’s referring to him being mixed-race, with mutt dogs being non-breeds.

It’s an interesting 20 minute press conference because it’s the first chance we’ve really had to see Obama answer awkward questions knowing that what he says won’t influence whether people vote for him or not.

I think he coped really well under the pressure although it was plain to see he does much better as an orator with a prepared and rehearsed script in front of him.
