Every third Monday in February is Presidents Day in the United States. It’s a federal holiday in the U.S. and was originally implemented in 1880 to celebrate George Washington’s birthday.
This video celebrates Presidents Day superbly by showing the faces of all the presidents to date morphing into one another in order of when they ran America. So we start with George Washington in 1789 and finish with Barack Obama in 2009.
This is yet another national holiday in the States, and I’m realizing how many there actually are. In the UK, where I live, we’re lucky to get a few days off each year, but Americans seem to have one a month.
I’m not big on American history – why would I be, I’m British – but I do love the national pride shown in the country and its origins. It makes me long for the day when Britain gets rid of the Queen and elects a president instead.
