For those outside the U.K. who aren’t aware of what is happening: there is currently a huge battle going on for Christmas number one – which will be announced tomorrow (Sunday Dec. 20).
The combatants are Rage Against The Machine and Joe McElderry, winner of The X Factor 2009. Music lovers are trying to get Killing In The Name to number one ahead of Simon Cowell’s manufactured The Climb.
This video shows what happened when Radio 5Live decided to get RATM on as guests. The band are interviewed, and are as polite and eloquent as ever. And then they perform Killing In The Name live.
Unfortunately for Radio 5Live, RATM don’t stick to the plan of singing a radio-friendly version of the song, and so it ends with a bit of swearing and a very panicked producer cutting them off.
Funny stuff, and it makes me want RATM to top the charts even more than I already did.
