US Senator Rand Paul, a Republican who represents Kentucky, has tested positive for COVID-19. He has now quarantined himself to avoid spreading the illness to others.
Rand Paul is the first Senator to test positive for COVID-19, but he’s unlikely to be the last. Especially given Donald Trump’s laissez-faire attitude to coronavirus.
Paul has said he feels fine, and only got tested to be cautious. But the fact he ended up testing positive means he was right to do so.
The problem is that senators tend to mix together, so Rand Paul will likely have passed COVID-19 onto other politicians.
