Re-Opening Of Statue Of Liberty Video | Obama Stimulus Boosts Ellis Island Tourism

Years ago I visited New York and I never got to see the Statue Of Liberty due to the 9/11 attacks. This morning, it was announced on The Today Show that the Crown of The Statue of Liberty will re-open this July 4th.

I guess I’ll have to start saving up for a plane ticket.

Perhaps I’ve been watching too many movies, but one thing I never really noticed about the Statue was how small the crown was. If an attack did occur, evacuation would be challenging to say the least. No wonder Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar plans to only have 30 people up at a time.

$25 million from President Obama’s $787 billion stimulus package is planned to be spent on repairs for the statue and Ellis Island maintenance. No doubt, this re-opening will boost tourism once again for the city of New York.
