A video game called Mirror’s Edge was released last year on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. I’ve played it, and it is one of the most annoying and frustrating game experiences you could ever hope to have.
The game sees you playing a free runner who utilizes her skill to literally save her life. The problem is that you play the game in first-person, which is fine for a shoot ’em up but not quite as good an idea for a platform action adventure involving lots of tight jumps under gunfire.
However, seeing free running from a first-person view is surprisingly awesome, as this video demonstrates. The guy does all manner of tricks and stunts, many from the game, while holding a camera in front of him.
I’m not a fan of Mirror’s Edge the game but I am a fan of Mirror’s Edge the real-life equivalent. Seeing these jumps and slides made from the point of view of the free runner themselves is a visual treat. Just not so much in game form.
