Nauru is a tiny Micronesian island in the South Pacific. Covering an area of just 21 square kilometers and with a population of around 14,000 people, it’s the world’s smallest island nation.
This video covers Nauru from all manner of different angles, with looks at the scenery, the wildlife, the people, and how they all live. And it makes me want to go and see it for itself.
Nauru was once very wealthy thanks to phosphate mining and exporting. But it’s now better known as the place Australia sends its unwanted refugees, for which the Nauru government accepts monetary aid.
Being British and living in an island nation myself, I feel a sense of kinship with the people of Nauru. Maybe I should visit and actually see if we have anything in common. Apart from never being far from the sea.
