The new trailer for the 2009 version of Sherlock Holmes is finally out. Depending on whether or not you’re a fan of the original, you may be offended by the lack of seriousness in this trailer.
This action/comedy flick churned out by Hollywood is nothing like the original stories it’s based off of.
Not having ever read a Sherlock Holmes novel, I found this trailer to be quite hilarious and entertaining. My father however, who grew up watching the original Sherlock Holmes movies was quick to dismiss it as “another brainless action flick.”
Obviously, when most books get turned into big-budget movies ($80 million to be exact) they often sway a tad from the original story. This is mostly done to attract a large audience, but sometimes to also re-interpret the story for a new generation.
The original Sherlock Holmes stories are now more than 100 years old; a new direction is overdue if you ask me.
